It was nice reading about your search for a typical Austrian restaurant. Really hard to find these days in Vienna. For the perfect Schnitzel go to "Schnitzelhaus" in Neubaugasse ($), or Figelmueller in Baeckerstrasse ($$$).

However, I would like to remark that in Austria, Schnitzel is never served with sauce or gravy, noodles are also a very unusual side.

Wonderful review! I read this as I sip my own glass of Valseranno- a recommendation from Total Wine after I described a fantastic glass of red Heras Cordon. I -highly- recommend it if you enjoy an exciting Spanish wine. I recently had a glass of what I am guessing is a 2005 Heras Cordon Vendimia Seleccionada. Check it out! :)
